Featured Photo: Arc View (Paris, France)

Standing nonchalantly above an undulating sea of people and vehicles, the Arc de Triomphe presented a contrasting first view to its standard travel photo persona. The wave of energy was in sharp contrast to the crowds just behind us to the southeast, embracing their leisure in the Jardin de Tuileries. This photo always stirs the same burst of delight that struck each time I turned a corner and glanced up at yet another of Paris’ iconic landmarks.

No, I didn’t climb down, but people do (and it must be a terrific view up from the riverside floor!). The New Bridge in Ronda, Spain, completed “oh so recently” in 1743, rises 390 feet above the El Tajo gorge floor. The picturesque little village of Ronda hugs the steep cliff rock —as I was inclined to do as I knelt to take this shot!

A slow stroll through a warm September night took us across one of Paris’ many bridges. The glimmering Seine River was overshadowed only by the majestic radiance of the Eiffel Tower lit up for evening display. The stone bridge served as a steadying support for my camera lens, allowing for this magical low light shot.
